About Friendship Peak Expedition

Mount Friendship, also known as Friendship Peak, is a mountain peak in Himachal Pradesh, India, located in the Beas Kund area of the Pir Panjal range. It is known for its hard ascent and panoramic views of the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar peaks, standing at an altitude of 5287 m (17353 ft.) above sea level. The trek, which extends to the friendship peak, encourages aspiring mountaineers and those looking for a challenging trail to enjoy the tranquility and grandeur of the Pir Panjal range. The road winds through the lovely Solang valley, which itself is thickly forested with a variety of alpine tree species, alongside numerous lavish streams leading to upland pastures, before climbing to the frozen surface with extensive tilts and crevasses. The view from the top is stunning, with snow-capped mountain ranges and endless vistas.

Day 1: Drive from Manali-Solang base camp by taxi.

Day 2: Rest Day for Acclimatization.

Day 3: Baker Thach Camp – Beas Kund Camp.

Day 4: A rest day may be necessary depending on the reaching conditions.

Day 5: Beas Kund Camp- Advance Camp.

Day 6: Final Summit Attempt (Max Alt. 5287 M) and back to Base Camp (Climb 3 Kms and trek back around 9 Kms).

Day 7: Reserve Days for Second Attempt or bad weather.

Day 8: Base Camp to Dhundi and same day Driver to Manali.

Day 9: Acclimatization at Advance Base Camp (ABC) (5130 m).

Day 10: On Advance Base Camp (Load ferry to camp 1).

Day 11: Advance Base Camp to Camp 1 (5800 m).

Day 12: Camp 1 (Load ferry to camp 2).

Day 13: Trek Camp 1 to Camp 2 (Summit camp) (6200 m).

How to Reach Friendship Peak

By Air :

The nearest airport to Manali is Kullu Manali Airport, located approximately 50 kilometers away from Manali town, in Bhuntar. Domestic flights from Delhi and Chandigarh are directly connected. The chief operating airline companies are Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet.

By Train :

The closest train station to Manali is Ambala Cantt, which is 200 km away. Another option is to get a train to Chandigarh, which is 250 km away. Ambala Cantt is on the Delhi Amritsar route.

By Bus:

The fastest way to reach from Chandigarh to Manali is a cab to Mandi, then bus to Manali and takes 6h 36m. The recommended way to reach from Chandigarh to Manali is a bus to Manali and takes 7h 0m. Buses from Pal Travel Lines, Himalayan Nomad (K.T.C), Leo Travels Height etc. Cabs from Wiwigo, Gozo etc.

In the event of cancellation of expedition/adventure activity services due to any avoidable / unavoidable reasons we must be notified of the same in writing. Cancellation charges will be effective from the date we receive advice in writing, and cancellation charges would be as follows: -

  • In the event of cancellation of any expedition/adventure activity services due to any avoidable/unavoidable reasons, we must be notified the same via mail at info@outsideexplorer.com.
  • If the trek is cancelled by us due to any reason (heavy snowfall, rainfall, natural disaster etc.) then the refund would not be initiated but you can go on the same trek another year.
  • The cancellation charges are as follows:
  • -No bank charges deducted will be Refundable.
  • -Up to 30 Days – 90% cost is Refundable.
  • -Between 21 to 30 Days – 50% cost is Refundable.
  • -Less than 20 Days – No Refund.
  • -Refunds are initiated in 7-8 business days.
