About Black Peak Expedition

Black Peak Expedition which is known as Kalanag Expedition. It is one of the best expeditions which has become most preferred expedition today. The Black Peak Expedition in the local dialect is known as “Kala Nag” it is named so because top part of this peak resembles Black Cobra. Climbing this mountain is everyone’s dream. It’s is situated in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. This is connected Swargarohini peak and Bandarpoonch. The height of this peak is 6387 Meter The expedition starts from base camp Sankri. Ruinsara Tal and kyarkoti is the base camp of this trek. Its look like the Snake shape due to slope in front the snow does not stop. That’s why it looks black from the front. This is why it is called Kalanag peak. This is the highest peak in Saraswati Mountain Range Bandarpoonch at an altitude of 6,387 meters, near Ruinsara valley. Other peaks are Bandarpoonch (I) (6316 m) and Hanuman Parvat (Bandarpoonch II) (6,102 m).

Day 1: Pick up to you from Dehradun railway station – Drive to Sankri Market – 210 Km (8/9 Hours (1920 Meters).

Day 2: Trek from Sankri to taluka by taxi – 11 km same day trek to Cheludgad camp (12 km) (4/5 Hours) (2600 Meters).

Day 3: Trek from Cheludgad camp to Devsu Bugyal (07 km) (3/4 Hours) (2890 Meters).

Day 4: Trek from Devsu Bugyal to Ruinsara Tal (12 km) (5/6 Hours) (3500 Meters).

Day 5: Trek from Ruinsara Lake to Kyarkoti (Base Camp) (7 km) (5/6 hours) (3900 m).

Day 6: Rest Day for Acclimatization.

Day 7: Base Camp to Advance Base Camp and back (4600 m) (Load Ferry).

Day 8: Camp 1 to Summit Camp (5500 m).

Day 9: Summit Camp to Summit attempt (6387 m).

Day 10 & Day 11: Reserved day for Summit.

Day 12: Summit Camp to Base Camp (descend) Kyarkoti camp.

Day 13: Trek from Kyarkoti camp to Ruinsara Lake.

Day 14: Trek from Ruinsara Lake to Cheludgad camp.

Day 15: Trek from Cheludgad camp to Taluka (13 km) same day drive to Sankri

Day 16: Trek from Sankri to Dehradun by taxi (210 km) (8/9 hours).

How to Reach Black Peak

By Air :

Jolly Grant airport situated in Dehradun which is well connected with major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore etc.

By Train :

Dehradun Railway Station is situated at a distance of about 2 km from the city center. Major cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Varanasi, Ujjain and Indore are connected by regular as well as frequent train services from the main city.

By Bus:

Dehradun has good connectivity of buses from Delhi. One can get a bus to Dehradun. The bus service is available all day with buses leaving every half an hour.

In the event of cancellation of expedition/adventure activity services due to any avoidable / unavoidable reasons we must be notified of the same in writing. Cancellation charges will be effective from the date we receive advice in writing, and cancellation charges would be as follows: -

  • In the event of cancellation of any expedition/adventure activity services due to any avoidable/unavoidable reasons, we must be notified the same via mail at info@outsideexplorer.com.
  • If the trek is cancelled by us due to any reason (heavy snowfall, rainfall, natural disaster etc.) then the refund would not be initiated but you can go on the same trek another year.
  • The cancellation charges are as follows:
  • -No bank charges deducted will be Refundable.
  • -Up to 30 Days – 90% cost is Refundable.
  • -Between 21 to 30 Days – 50% cost is Refundable.
  • -Less than 20 Days – No Refund.
  • -Refunds are initiated in 7-8 business days.
